While most fauna surveys allow time for efficient post-processing, there are a number of important use cases in ecology where knowledge in real-time is essential.
Our preferred real-time AI solution is a mix of both hardware and software, which was designed with drone-based shark surveillance in mind, but can be used for any type of real-time field applications. We carefully selected rugged hardware fit for outdoor purpose and capable of running AI on the edge. This is because many locations along the Australian coastline have poor internet connectivity (our AI works without internet). Additionally, the screen is super bright and can be seen while in full Australian Sun.
This portable unit is our current answer to real-time decision support to drone pilots conducting shark surveillance flights, or other applications where maximising the detection and identification confidence of fauna in real-time from a portable drone is required.
